Hello, October!
Hello!
It's been a while since I've written a blog. I'm sorry for my bad english, it's not my first language and I'm getting dumber than ever. Thank you for understanding.
Nothing much happens aside from doomscrolling on Tiktok. I've been regulating it but with no luck, it's not that easy to stop it. I also noticed that I'm getting dumber, so with motivation and discipline, I've been trying to make everyday count and manage my time better, which is by far, not that effective, I'm still stuck with my phone.
Snail Mail club has been on my fyp for a while now and I've been thinking of subscribing on filipino based mail clubs, but I'm too broke to afford it. I will rethink about it. Budgeting my finances has never been my strongest suit. Maybe I'll give in sooner or later.
Now, let's talk the series, movies and books I've watched and read, and currently watching and reading for the past few months.
I've watched Extraordinary on Disney Plus. It is a British comedy superhero series with two seasons. I've discovered it on Tiktok after hours of doomscrolling and I've decided to look into it, which is one of the best decisions I've ever made. It's like a reward that I earned after wasting my time on scrolling endlessly on things that I will not remember anymore. I love finding underrated gems. It's such a waste that it's cancelled after only two seasons.
I've also watched Confessions of a Shopaholic on Disney Plus. I really love that movie! It's a romcom movie that didn't age like milk, I love the characters and surprisingly I didn't hate the male lead like I always did on other romcom movies.
I've read Isabela by Kaisa Aquino. It's a book written by a Filipino author that I bought on MIBF on September 11. It is such a strange day that day. The night before, my mom received a call from my grandma on Nueva Ecija. My mom is worried on why my grandma was calling all of a sudden late at night, she thought something bad had happened on my dad, who lives with my grandma. When my mom answered the call, we heard that my cousin and my aunt had a car accident. At that time, I'm not worried that much because I thought that it is only a minor accident, but my grandma was very worried, of course it's her only daughter that lives near her (her other daughter lives in Canada), and it's her granddaughter. We didn't think too much of it and went to bed afterwards like an ordinary day. On the morning of September 11, my mom woke me up by telling me that my aunt is dead. I couldn't process it all at once because we have to go to MIBF and we don't have time to think about it. So while I'm preparing my things and what to wear, I was crying, but when my mom and I left the house, I set aside my emotions. We didn't think too much about it so we had fun on the MIBF. We also so my mom's friends, our former churchmates. Buying that book is a real struggle. I initially wanted to buy two books from Ateneo Press; aside from Isabela, I wanted to buy Yniga by Glenn Diaz as well. So I went to the cashier and punched the two books, turns out, my cash is insufficient. So I said that I will not buy the other book anymore, but it was already in the system so they had a hard time removing it. I kept apologizing but they were so polite and told me that it's okay. When I went home, I picked up my emotions again and grieve on my aunt and for my cousins who became orphans that night. Their father (my uncle) passed away not too long ago, on 2021, all of a sudden, with a heart failure. We went to Nueva Ecija on Sunday not to long after, to express our condolences. I cannot hold back my tears. Back to the topic, I am a slow reader so I finished that book on October 4. There is one chapter that I cried a lot when I read it on my bed at night, my eyes became puffy in the morning.
As of now, I'm reading Love and Gelato. It's an easy read so I hope I could finish it within the week. I've started reading Katabasis last week because it's all over my FYP as well, but I paused it because I'm not in the mood to read fantasy books, I've never read fantasy books. I know I will like it because I like the author, I've read Yellowface, but not now.
I'm also currently watching House MD. I know that I will give up watching that sooner or later because I'm not the type of person who commits that long. It has 8 seasons and I'm currently on Season 1. Also, I've watched Abbott Elementary from Season 1-4 and now there's a Season 5 ongoing! It's my favorite show so I've anticipated Season 5 for a long time! (1 week)
For the current happenings, my boyfriend and I went to Philippine Biodome last weekend. I held snakes, which is very scary. The big snake is heavy on the back of my neck, and the small snake is somewhat cold and slimy. I've held big birds as well, hawk, owl, and the colorful bird that I forgot the name of. The owl is very cute! I've touched it but I'm scared as well. I thought it is nocturnal but it adapted to human body clock, it's awake in the morning as well, I hope it's not bad for its health. Overall we enjoyed it because everything is cute and interactive. I enjoyed it because my boyfriend paid for all of it. We went there because of his company's family day. Originally the company paid for the Ocean Park, but since we already went there last time, her brother, brother's wife, and mother went there instead for free, and we went to the biodome. Then after that, we had lunch at Robinson's Manila, in Frankie's. I ordered Honey Mustard chicken wings, and I traded one for my boyfriend's Sriracha. Everything is delicious. Then we went to Gashapon Bandai. I didn't buy anything but it's enjoyable watching them play.
That's all for now.
Thank you for reading up to here!
Regards,
Pauline
