Nothing much happens!

Hello!

I'm in my luteal phase so I don't feel really good right now. I just decided to write because it's been too long since I last created a blog entry.

Highlights of 1st quarter:

1. My boyfriend and I went to Baguio together!! It's so fun and cold. We went there with my mom and her friends and other joiners. I felt like I'm in a school field trip. I would like to go back, but not with time constraints. I want to take my time looking and walking.

2. Women of The Word Seminar - so many freebies! I love being surrounded with women, and I like the speakers and their messages as well.

I've read 6 books from January up to now:

1. Either/Or - I started it December last year but I just finished it this January. It's really good. There's a lot happening with Selin, I'm just surprised. But it is still entertaining. Elif Batuman is a really brilliant writer. I've read the first book, The Idiot, twice.

2. The Lonely Heart of Maybelle Lane - it's an easy read because it's targeted in middle school demographic. I enjoyed that book.

3. Seek Ye Whore and Other Stories - it's a Filipino book in English language. I really liked that book, I like reading Filipino mythology in a modern setting. It's a collection of short stories which I liked.

4. My Lola's Love Letters - another Filipino book in english language. It's a feel good novel, I feel giddy reading it.

5. Ang Bangin sa Ilalim ng Acting mga Paa - a Tagalog book. I loved it! It's like an action movie. There are some graphic scenes that I'm sure I will not be able to watch. So I'm glad that it's written instead.

6. Bata Bata paano ka ginawa - a classic. A well-written feminist book. I thought the iconic lines in the film are in the book, "Akala mo lang wala! Pero meron, meron, meron!" But in the book it's just, not as iconic. LOL. I really enjoyed it. It's funny and serious.

I read so many Filipino books because I planned to go to Philippine book festival. But I didn't go because I realized that I have no budget for that, and I have prior engagements. But yeah, it's because I'm broke. And I have a lot of TBR. On a brighter side, I bought a tablet! I'm actually typing all this on my tablet. This is where I read my books and read substack articles, and watch everything. This is where I watched HR.

My current fixation right now is Heated Rivalry. I actually wrote a poem on the my wordpress after 4 years of stagnation because of it. It's like a drug. Everything they do makes me giddy; I'm screaming, crying, giggling, kicking my feet... jumping! Especially on the last scene of Episode 5! Oh how I love love love that episode! I'm just a sucker for happy endings. I just really love that they're happy. I had a week of psychosis, turns out, i'm not the only one who experiences that way. There are a lot of people like me on the internet! And the fan edits are just soooo good. But I don't read the books yet, I have currently ongoing. I will read that after, I think. I'm not actually in those genre of books.

Kdramas I've watched this 1st quarter:

1. Daily Dose of sunshine - I cried a bucket of tears.

2. Can This Love be Translated - so very romantic!! Very very romantic. The epitome of romance.

3. Dynamite Kiss - the first few episodes are good, I'm actually giggling and kicking my feet, rewatching the clips. Aaah so good.

4. Law and The City - I like kdramas like that, light-hearted, realistic, and simple. I think it's the first time I've watched law firms depicted like that, not as dramatized and grandeur as anything I've watched before. Beyond The Bar is the opposite of that. I've enjoyed beyond the bar as well because of interesting cases.

Films I've watched, not in chronological order:

1. 27 dresses - I love it!! It's just simple but well executed.

2. Every Juan knows everyone - i like it very much. It's so funny

3. Huhhhhh that very long title of korean movie where the girl has amnesia everyday. It didn't make me cry. I just don't like someone dying. And I don't like sad endings (except La La Land)

4. A Thousand Words - I've watched it when I was a kid and I liked it. I rewatched it now so I will know myself if that is actually a good movie or I was just a kid. It's a good movie.

5. Snow White - animations from the ancient times are good.

6. Spiderwick Chronicles - same situation as a thousand words. I like it better as an adult! It's one of the best movies i'ved watched. I don't watch a lot of movies.

7. Novitiate - I think it's a well-written film. I watched it because I thought it's a sapphic film. But I think it's not, even though two girls kissed. I don't think it's sapphic, they are just in a situation where they discover themselves. They don't love each other and they are not.. I think it's not meant to be depicted as "queer" or "sapphic" or "romance". It's just women losing women.

8. Red, White, and Royal Blue - waaahhh this is a feel-good light hearted romance movie  if you just want to relax on a stressful day. I will rewatch this! Some scenes are cringe, but, you can't have it all! I really really like it. I love romcoms, happy ending romcoms!! I watched it because of heated rivalry and it did not disappoint.

9. Bottoms - it's really funny, so funny to watch the same actor in RWRB doing entirely different thing. Fun watch on women's month. Girl power! Also I became unhealthily obsessed with hazel. She's soooooo fine! Why did nobody wanted her? It's unrealistic.

10. She's The Man - I watched it because of the edits that made it look like it's sapphic. The tiktok comments said, "the writers are cowards!" And somebody replied, "you mean shakespeare?" Turns out it's a loose adaptation of the twelfth night. And it's not ahead of it's time. What a bummer, all of the casts are hot!

Ongoing things I am watching:

1. Abbott Elementary - I love love loooove it.

2. You and I are Polar Opposites - I love this anime! I look forward to watching this every week! They got together on the first episode but it is not boring! They make me feel butterflies.

3. Frieren - it's a masterpiece! My anime standards went high because of it.

I'm still feeling down right now, but I don't think I have anything to do about it. I just hope I will feel better. I just do know how.

Edit: I felt better after writing this blog. I like writing so it's a good outlet for me to release my negative feelings.

Thank you for reading up to here. That's all for now.

Regards,

Pauline
